Normal tissues absorbed dose and associated risk in breast radiotherapy

Electron beam radiotherapy (EBRT) is widely used in radiotherapy clinics due to some distinct advantages in terms of dose uniformity and minimizing dose to deeper tissues. However, in EBRT of the breast cancer, the normal tissues of internal mammary and axillary lymph nodes as well as chest wall receive considerable amount of dose. The aim of present study was to investigate the dose to target volume and the associated risk for normal tissues such as lungs in breast EBRT patients.
