Calculating the compensating dose in fractionation radiotherapy

In this review article, mathematical expression of some radiobiological models which are used to predict the radiobiological efficiency of different radiotherapy procedures is presented. These theoretical methods are derived from the Linear Quadratic (LQ) model to calculate the survival of cancer cells in various radiotherapy procedures. Next, a general method for calculating the compensating dose to rectify the effects of inter- and intra-fraction gaps in radiotherapy sessions is explained.
